She was describing her reaction to a lecture by psychologist Timothy Leary (b. 1920) at Lollapalooza, a "traveling rock circus." Dr. Leary, a "dropout" from mainstream society, had been a vocal proponent of hallucinogenic drug use (especially LSD) and counter-cultural values.
