The quote has also been attributed to Frank Ward O'Malley. Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote in a letter, Oct. 24, 1930: "It's not true that life is one damn thing after another—it's one damned thing over and over." (Letters of Edna St. Vincent Millay, ed. Allen R. MacDougall, 1952).
