Irena Klepfisz (b. 1941), U.S. Jewish poet and essayist; born in Poland. "Bashert: These Words are Dedicated to Those Who Survived," lines 26-31 (1981).

Klepfisz and her mother escaped the Warsaw Uprising, in which her father died, and emigrated first to Sweden, then to the United States. These lines are dedicated to the survivors of the Holocaust.
